Who is eligible for the scholarship?
High school seniors planning to go to college after their graduation who live within the following two geographic areas:
1. Ellis County, including public and private high schools.
2. A public or private high school in any community outside Ellis County in which Citizens National Bank of Texas has a branch banking facility.
Is salary of parents a consideration?
Although the ability of parents to contribute to their child's college education is considered, it is not the only deciding factor. One of the primary determining factors is needs based.
How is the scholarship disbursed?
The scholarship student will open an account at CNB of Texas and $1,000 will be deposited in that account on August 1st and $1,000 will be deposited in that account on January 1st.
What must be done to continue to receive the scholarship?
Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and must present their grades for the previous semester
and their schedule for the following semester before the next disbursement date in order to continue to receive the next deposit
of scholarship funds.
What if students forget to give their grades for a previous semester?
Students will not receive any further disbursements until grades from the previous semester are received at CNB of Texas
and verified that a 2.0 GPA has been maintained. After verification, funds will be deposited into a student's account.
Does the application need to be typed or can it be handwritten?
Applications must be filled out online at www.singletonscholarship.org.
If you do not have access to a computer, you are welcome to use a computer at any Citizens National Bank of Texas branch.
